Millions of hryvnias in fines: the Ministry of Internal Affairs named the most successful traffic cameras in Ukraine

Surveillance cameras on Ukrainian roads caught the most speeding offenders in the Zhytomyr region. It happened on the Kyiv – Chop highway.

Telegraph reports this, citing data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). It is noted that on the section between Rivne and Zhytomyr, fines were issued for 18 million hryvnias.

The agency also named the TOP 10 most effective cameras (complexes for auto-fixation of traffic violations) in 2024.

First place

"Kyiv – Chop highway. From January 1 to August 31, 2024, the largest number of violations was recorded by a camera on the M-06 Kyiv – Chop highway in the Zhytomyr region. It issued 68,855 fines totaling UAH 18 million 839 thousand 888.

The camera is installed on the road between Rivne and Zhytomyr, namely in the village of Didovychi in the direction of Kyiv (km 247+134). The speed limit is 70 km/h.

Second place

Vinnytsia region. The second place is taken by the camera on the M-30 highway "Stryi – Uman – Dnipro – Izvaryne" in Ksaverivka on the road from Vinnytsia to Khmelnytskyi. The speed limit here is 50 km/h.

It brought 65,228 fines to the budget for UAH 16 million 412 thousand 980.

Third place

The highway from Lviv. The camera is installed on the section M-09 Ternopil – Rava-Ruska, km 66+283 (Lviv region). Here, 67,222 administrative decisions were issued for UAH 14 million 581 thousand 560.

The camera is installed in the village of Chervone, Lviv region. The speed limit there is 50 km/h.

Fourth place

Brovary bypass road. The camera on the M-01 road "Kyiv – Chernihiv – Khovi Yarilovychi" brought in 14 million 302 thousand 676 UAH. A total of 61,464 fines were issued here.

Its location is km 28+342, i.e. the bypass in Brovary, Kyiv region. The maximum speed is 50 km/h.

Fifth place

Dniprovska embankment in Kyiv. The camera in Kyiv at Dniprovska Embankment/Prychalna Street brought in UAH 11 million 511 thousand 729. Violators were issued 63,277 administrative tickets.

Sixth place

Kyiv – Odesa highway. On the M-05 Kyiv – Odesa highway, the surveillance camera brought 60,436 administrative decisions worth UAH 11 million 922 thousand 636.

This section is known to many: it is located in Kyiv region, km 15+740, in the village of Chabany in the direction of Vita-Poshtova. The speed limit is 50 km/h.

Seventh place

Kyiv – Odesa again. The camera in the direction of Kyiv 35+240 in the Hlevakha community of Kyiv region on the M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway brought in UAH 9,081,033. A total of 41,335 administrative resolutions were issued.

The speed limit is 50 km/h.

Eighth place

Ivano-Frankivsk region. The camera in the village of Odai, Ivano-Frankivsk region, helped to draw up 39,132 administrative decisions worth UAH 8 million 739 thousand 578. The speed limit is 50 km/h.

Ninth place

Ivano-Frankivsk region. The camera in Staryi Kryvotuly in Prykarpattia earned UAH 8,017,024 from traffic violators and helped to issue 35,791 fines. The camera is aimed at the H-10 Stryi – Mamalyha highway, km 124+050, in the direction of Otynia. The speed limit is 50 km/h.

Tenth place

The outskirts of Ivano-Frankivsk. The camera in Yamnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk region, on the H-09 "Mukachevo – Lviv" highway, km 322+566, completes the top ten. The camera has helped to issue 40,182 administrative decisions worth UAH 7 million 759 thousand 435.

The speed limit is 50 km/h.

Details

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the cameras record speeding and violations of the rules of movement and stopping in the public transport lane.

The largest fine for speeding is UAH 1700, and for violating the rules of movement and stopping in the lane for route vehicles – UAH 680.

Accordingly, these are currently the largest amounts for administrative offenses in the field of road safety recorded automatically.

All the communities that responded confirmed the effectiveness of the cameras on their territories, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

In addition, the Patrol Police Department reported that during the period before the launch of the recording system, three times as many accidents with fatalities and/or injuries were registered in the places where cameras were installed as in the same period after the launch of the control devices, which indicates a decrease in accidents at the installation sites.
