Large Russian oil refinery shut down after UAV attack: what is known
Rosneft's Kuibyshev Oil Refinery (KOR) was forced to shut down both primary oil processing units after a fire. Thus, it has completely stopped production, two industry sources said on Thursday.
The fire at the refinery, which started last Saturday due to a drone attack, damaged the primary unit. However, Reuters reported that the refinery was forced to shut down the second primary refining unit.
According to one of the sources, it was not affected by the attack, but could not continue to operate because it is technologically connected to the damaged first one.
According to Reuters estimates, the total capacity of the primary oil refining units that are on emergency downtime after an external attack as of March 25 was 124,580 tons per day, which is 14% of the total capacity of primary units operating at Russian refineries.
