Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is rapidly approaching the Sun. After meeting with the hot star, the flying traveler will cross the brightness threshold and from October 9 to 12, it will be visible from the Earth with the naked eye.

NASA astronauts have managed to film a comet from the International Space Station (ISS). The stunning video shows how Tsuchinshan-ATLAS rises from the edge of the Earth as the space station circles the planet, IflScience writes.

"Seeing a comet from orbit is absolutely amazing. The perspective of rising through the atmosphere at the edge is truly unique. The tail of the comet is still too dim to see with our eyes, but it's heading toward the Sun and getting brighter every day," NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick wrote under the image of the comet on the X network.

According to scientists, on September 27, Tsuchinshan-ATLAS will fly near the Sun at a distance of 58.6 million kilometers. After this meeting, the comet will become brighter and can be seen in the sky with the naked eye. However, after the perihelion, the tailed wanderer will appear only before dawn, and from October 9, its trail will be visible at sunset.

Interestingly, Tsuchinshan-ATLAS will be among the 50 brightest objects in the sky. According to experts, the comet will be brighter than Jupiter and slightly less bright than Venus.

Scientists advise not to miss the tailed "star." Its closest passage to Earth will take place on October 12.
