The Russian team wanted to play two friendly matches in Asia

The friendly match between the Russian and Thai national football teams will not take place, according to the Russian Football Union (RFU). The meeting was to take place on Saturday, September 7 in Hanoi at 16:00.

The day before the meeting, the Vietnamese capital was hit by Typhoon Yagi, which became one of the strongest in Hanoi over the past few years. Local authorities recommended that residents of the Vietnamese capital stay at home and not go out.

"The decision [to cancel the match] was made taking into account the amount of precipitation that has already fallen and the weather forecast for the next day in Hanoi," the RFU said in a statement.

"Nature itself is against such a mockery of football and common sense," "You can't play at all, no one needs this match at 100 years old, it's not enough to watch this rubbish," "Even at the top there are sanctions," "Everything is wrong, and everything is wrong. Even the weather is against it," users mock.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on Thursday, September 5, the Russian national team defeated Vietnam in Hanoi with a score of 3-0.

In 2024, Russia played two friendly matches, defeating Serbia and Belarus with the same score of 4:0. The national team played its last away match against Kenya in Antalya, Turkey. The game ended with a score of 2:2.
