Top non-conventional superhero movies
The weekend is coming, which means it's time to watch some interesting movies.
Kostya Trembovetskyi, a participant of the Improv Live Show, shared his selection of non-trivial films about superheroes.
Mystery Men
"If you like Ben Stiller's grotesque comedies of the early 2000s (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Zoolander), you should definitely watch Mystery Men," Trembovetskyi told New Channel, "It's a story about a trio of superhero misfits with the most vague abilities. They are constantly defeated by the world-famous superhero Captain Amazing, who is so bored with his own effectiveness in fighting crime that he uses his alter ego, a billionaire lawyer, to release the supervillain Casanova Frankenstein from prison."
Unbreakable
After the stunning success of The Sixth Sense, M. Night Shyamalan has once again cast Bruce Willis in his movie. This should be enough to make it worth watching. But even with other people in these roles, the movie will still remain perhaps the best movie about the birth of a superhero, despite the fact that it has no special effects, no feats, no big action, at least not in the movie's climax. We've all wondered what it would be like to have superpowers, and Unbreakable gives us the most honest, down-to-earth, and psychologically difficult answer to this question.
Super
Following the standard comic book movie template of an average guy turning into a superhero, Super imagines what would happen if this average guy was also devoid of any powers and more than a little mentally unstable. Incredibly funny Rainn Wilson, as if continuing to play Dwight Schrute from The Office, who now runs around the city, beats bad guys on the head with a giant wrench, while saying his signature phrase (every superhero should have one) "Shut up, crime!"
Chronicle
Three teenagers from a Seattle high school come across an unknown object that gives them telekinetic powers. Over time, they begin to grow closer and experiment with their powers, learning to use telekinesis for various purposes, including flight. At first, they use these powers for harmless teenage mischief and personal gain, but eventually the temper of one of them, as well as family problems, lead him to a darker path, and he begins to use his abilities for more sinister purposes.
