Time for a hunt: top mushroom places in Ukraine

For experienced mushroom pickers, it's no secret where the most delicious mushrooms are hidden. Today we're going to share some of the best mushroom locations! Find out where these places are below.

The Carpathians

The mountain peaks are a real haven for lovers of "quiet hunting". Dense forests, rich in moisture and fertile soil, create ideal conditions for the growth of various mushrooms: from boletus to chanterelles.

The Skolivski Beskydy is the place where many types of delicacies really grow, especially in the vicinity of the villages of Oriv, Oriavchyk, Tukhlia and Hrebenne.

The Kryvopillia Pass is famous for its accessibility; you can find "prey" right next to the road. You can get here by taking the P24 Vorokhta-Verkhovyna highway.

We also advise you to climb the Dukonia meadow, where the "whites reign". However, keep in mind that it is located at an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level.

We also recommend going to Dzembronia, where you can also find many of your favorite mushrooms.

Zhytomyr

The region is dominated by both mixed and coniferous forests. They are located far from industrial zones, so it is safe to find rich harvest here. The region is home to mushrooms, boletus, redlead roundheads, buttercups, and more. The most popular destinations include:

1. Olevsk district, Slovechne village
2. Korostyshiv district
3. Ovruch district, the town of Nova Borova
4. Malynskyi district, Irshansk village
5. Narodytskyi district

Lviv region

In the forests of the Lviv region, most mushrooms can be found in the vicinity of the villages of Dubyna, Skhidnytsia and Slavske. They also grow in Lykhobor, which is located near Mount Pikui. In these parts, the most common mushrooms are boletus, chanterelles and porcini. In addition, it is worth mentioning Rakovets and Krasivka, which are located near Lviv. These places are also popular among mushroom pickers.

Volyn

In the region, you can not only collect forest delicacies, but also buy them. But if you prefer quiet hunting, here are a few locations:

1. Liuboml district. Foresters note that it is here that mushrooms appear first, especially in the vicinity of Polapa.
2. Manevychi community. The village of Roznychi near Kolka is another popular place among mushroom pickers.
3. Starovyzhiv district. Butsynska Hirka is also known for its mushroom glades. It is located near the Ratniv highway.

Kyiv region

Although many people buy mushrooms in stores, the real pleasure is to find them on your own. There are many mushroom picking sites rven near Kyiv. The most popular locations in the Kyiv region include:

1. Klavdiievo-Tarasove (Bucha district)
2. Stare (Boryspil district)
3. Dymer (Vyshhorod district)

Also, mushroom pickers often choose the western direction, in particular Zhytomyr and Borodianka. They include the outskirts of the villages of Komarivka, Zahaltsiv, and Piskivka.

Cherkasy

The region is dominated by large forests. In particular, the Buchak forestry near Kaniv is rich in a variety of mushrooms: porcini, sickeners, etc. You can find mushrooms near Kopani, and buttercups in young coniferous forests near Mezhyrich.

We also recommend going to the Uman district. Most delicacies can be found in the Synitsko-Palanskyi forest. It is home to oyster mushrooms, champignons, chanterelles, and brown roll-rims. The outskirts of the villages of Horodetske and Hromy are considered the best places to pick them.

Chernihiv

Mushrooms grow throughout the Chernihiv region. Most of them are found in Koriukiv, Horodnia, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Ripkyi districts. In the south of the region, the "harvest" is not as rich, but you can still collect a whole basket, especially in oak plantations. However, given the situation in Chernihiv region due to constant attacks by the Russian occupiers, you should take care of your safety and pick mushrooms in regions more distant from the fighting.

Dnipropetrovsk region

In the forests of Dnipropetrovsk region, you can often find buttercups, chanterelles, boletus and, of course, the beloved porcini. Here's where you can go "hunting":
