The hit horror movie "Ready or Not" will get a sequel: what is known
The cult horror movie "Ready or Not" will finally get a sequel. The production company Radio Silence together with Searchlight Pictures announced the start of work on the project.
According to Variety, Australian actress Samara Weaving will return to the lead role of Grace le Domas. She is not a newcomer to the genre, having already starred for Netflix in "The Babysitter," "Scream" (2022), and other similar projects.
The original, which was released in 2019, told the story of the heroine's wedding, who learned during the celebration that her new family has a kind of game ritual for everyone who enters it. They have to pull out a card with the name of the game and play it. However, she is not told how dangerous this game can be. In the process, the girl reveals the plan and decides that she does not want to give her life for someone else's entertainment.
The original movie, starring Adam Brody, Andy McDowell, and Henry Czerny, cost the studio only $6 million to make. At the same time, it grossed 28 million in the domestic market alone, becoming Searchlight's biggest release in 2019. In addition, "Ready or Not" was praised by critics for its social message and unique plot. This success prompted the producers to think about a sequel.
It is expected that the script for the second part will be written again by Guy Busick and Christopher Murphy, who created the script for the original film. Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt will return to the production team. It is not yet known who will take the director's chair and when the movie will be released.
