The cast for film adaptation of bestselling novel People We Meet on Vacation announced

A movie adaptation of Emily Henry's bestselling book People We Meet on Vacation will soon be released. The new Netflix movie will tell the story of Poppy (Emily Bader) and Alex (Tom Blyth), two complete opposites who have been going on a week-long vacation together every summer for the past ten years.

While Poppy is active and outgoing, Alex is more reserved and quiet, which leads to misunderstandings and drama in their relationship. People magazine reported the first details about the adaptation and revealed who will play the main roles.

What the story is about

Poppy and Alex have absolutely nothing in common. She is independent, impulsive and rebellious, while he is calm and rational. Poppy is a sociable writer who loves traveling and new experiences, while Alex, a teacher, prefers to stay at home with a book.

Back in college, these opposites liked each other - not as potential lovers, but rather friends. Poppy lives in New York City, and Alex stays in his small hometown in Ohio, so they have only one chance to see each other - their annual week-long vacation. However, after an incident during their last trip, the protagonists have not spoken for a long time. Poppy misses Alex and asks him for one last trip together, and to her great surprise, he agrees.

The perfect balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else - can they be the perfect couple too?

Who will play the main roles

Netflix has announced that Emily Bader and Tom Blyth will play the main roles, and Brett Haley will direct it.

According to Variety, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, Lucas Gage, Miles Heizer, Tommy Do, Alice Lee, Alan Ruck and Molly Shannon have also joined the cast.

People We Meet on Vacation was published by Berkley in 2021. The book hit number 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, where it eventually stayed for over a year, becoming Henry's best-selling book with over 2 million copies sold in the United States.

In October 2022, Brett Haley was chosen to direct the upcoming film, the script was adapted by Yulin Kuang, and Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner were the producers.
