Someone tried to smuggle a Stradivarius violin out of Ukraine: the instrument was sent for examination. Photo
The violin was found in the trunk of a MITSUBISHI car.
An officer of the State Border Guard Service of the Lviv Detachment noticed a violin, probably by the Italian master Stradivarius, in a car leaving Ukraine. The instrument was labeled Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1728.
This was reported by the press service of the department. The violin was found in the trunk of MITSUBISHI car at the Krakivets checkpoint on the border with Poland.
The State Border Guard Service notes that the violin may be an original instrument made by Italian master Antonio Stradivari. This instrument has a special purity of sound and is highly valued in the world.
Customs officials seized the instrument. An expert will determine whether it has cultural and historical value.
As a reminder, Ukraine has recorded 8 episodes of smuggling of Apple equipment, which caused losses to the state of UAH 53 million. These cases were detected at the Volyn Customs. Employees of the agency who controlled this smuggling channel have already been notified of suspicion.
