Quick Christmas stollen recipe: how to make festive pastries without yeast
Stollen is a traditional German Christmas pastry that has gained considerable popularity in Ukraine in recent years. It is customary to give it a special shape that resembles a baby wrapped in a white diaper.
A food blogger with the nickname anny.cooking presented a recipe for stollen on Instagram, which is made without the use of yeast. This pastry will be perfect for the Christmas table if prepared in advance.
Ingredients for 3 stollen
- Eggs – 2 pcs
- Butter – 180 gr
- Cottage cheese – 250 gr
- Flour – 450 gr
- Sugar – 140 gr
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Baking powder – 8 g
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Orange zest – 1 pc
- Nuts – 100 gr
Ingredients for the filling
- Dried fruits – 300 g
- Cognac – 100 ml
- Orange juice – 200 ml
Additional ingredients
- Butter for greasing – 100 g
- Powdered sugar
Method of preparation
1. Pour the dried fruit with juice and alcohol, leave overnight, and after soaking, put it in a colander to drain all the moisture.
2. Mix flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder.
3. Separately, combine eggs, cottage cheese, soft butter, and beat with a blender.
4. Add the zest, nuts, and dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and knead the dough.
5. Add the candied fruit to the dough, divide it into 3 parts, and form the stollen pieces.
6. You can add nothing inside the stollen, or you can add candied fruit (from the total amount) and marzipan.
7. Bake at 180 degrees for 50 minutes. After 30 minutes, cover with foil to prevent them from burning.
8. Brush the hot stollen with melted butter and sprinkle generously with powder.
