Odesa was covered by a powerful downpour: the streets of the city were submerged. Video
On September 15, Odesa was flooded with heavy rain. It turned many streets into rivers, flooded houses, and paralyzed traffic on some streets.
The mayor's office reported that there was no traffic on Nebesna Sotnya, Balkivska, Williams, Ilf and Petrova streets. Local online communities also wrote that traffic was disrupted on Akademika Hlushka Avenue, Promyslova/Khimichna, Inglesi, Varnenska, Atamana Chepyha, Gazovyi Lane, at the 5th station of the Fontana and other streets.
Trams #12, #15, #20 had to be temporarily suspended. Trolleybus #12 changed its route and ran along Korolyova Street.
Kyivskyi and Peresypskyi districts were the most affected. In the Raiduzhny residential complex, entrances were flooded due to bad weather.
Other buildings in Odesa, especially basements, also felt the effects of the downpour.
Chornomorsk was also affected by the bad weather. This is a consequence of the cyclone Boris, which came to Ukraine on September 14, and before that had caused disasters in several countries of Central and Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary have already been affected).
In Odesa, emergency crews from public utilities were trying to cope with the flow of rainwater, but due to problems with storm drains, it was difficult to do so.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, weather forecasters predicted that on the right bank of Ukraine, almost all regions would experience precipitation on September 15, and on the left bank there would be strong winds with gusts of up to 15-20 meters per second.
