Nuclear strike on Russia, Durov cameo and the tricolor: Russians embarrass themselves with Ukraine war "references" in Terminator

OBOZ.UA explained the fragments in Terminator that Russians consider "propaganda"

Russian conspiracy theorists seem to have rewatched the 1984 cult action movie Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The propagandists allegedly found hidden references in the movie that are extremely reminiscent of Russia's war in Ukraine.

The Russians actively spread these "interesting facts" on social media, forcing Z-patriots to "think carefully." In fact, as OBOZ.UA has found out, the fragments from the movie are not prophetic at all. They are just another lie and manipulation that was actively picked up by Russian moviegoers. Read on to find out what is wrong with the "references".

"When did you serve?"

In the first part of the cult movie Terminator, during an interrogation, the character Kyle Reese is asked about his period of service. In the movie, he answers that he served from 2021 to 2027, but some translations read "from 2022 to 2027."

In reality, the translation may differ, and the phrase and the date of the character's service change. The original script refers to the period of 2021-2027. In the story, Reese fought in a world taken over by machines. At that time, people had already lost to technology, and the resistance was coming out of the underground.

According to the original, the Skynet uprising took place on August 29, 1997. However, it should be noted that in the following parts of the franchise, the date was shifted. The filmmakers wanted to leave the war for the audience in the future.

"Killed in UKR"

According to the Russians, when viewers are shown fragments from the Terminator's point of view, they can see lines of assembly code for an Apple II computer. One of the scenes allegedly depicts the protagonist seeing a man marked "Killed in UKR 11.11.24".

OBOZ.UA has not found any confirmation of the authenticity of this episode. There has never been such an inscription in the movie, and the Russians are simply trying to make wishful thinking by introducing pseudo-facts. You can see that propagandists are spreading fake news by watching the selection of all the fragments from the movie shown through the eyes of T800 for yourself.

Durov cameo?

In the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day, an employee of Cyberdyne Systems is supposedly wearing a T-shirt with an imperial coat of arms and the inscription, "When Russia was free, a goose cost 3 kopecks," and in the script his name is Nick Durov.

The T-shirt fact is indeed true. However, there was no Nick Durov in the script. The character's name was Bryant.

"Nuclear war"

In that second installment of the franchise, the T-800, which arrived to save the world, tells the story of the beginning of a nuclear war: Skynet replaced the people at the nuclear arsenal control panel and then launched a missile strike on Russia. When young John Connor asks, "Why Russia? They are our allies now," the Terminator says, "Because they will definitely retaliate."

This alleged "conspiracy" is purely a distortion of facts to fit the present, or simply a quote from a poor translation. Indeed, Skynet replaced humans in the management of defense systems on August 4, 1997, and came to life on August 29 at 2:14 a.m. People tried to shut it down, but it defended itself. As part of its self-defense, it attacked Russia because it knew that the Russian counterattack would destroy Skynet's enemies in the United States.

"Russian flag"

You can see the colors of the Russian flag on the Freightliner truck used by the killer robot to chase the heroes.

Yes, the Freightliner FLA 9664 truck is supposed to have three stripes that form the Russian flag. But there is one "nuance": the top stripe is not actually white, but blue. But even if it is white, it should be remembered that the colors of the American flag are blue, red, and white, so it is not surprising that in certain cases the combination of these colors can awaken the imagination of Russians.
