Mostly inexpensive: the best new cars are named

Experts selected the best new cars, each of which was named the winner in its category. Interestingly, the rating includes mostly inexpensive cars. They were chosen as favorites.

American experts of the Edmunds online catalog tested more than 375 new cars during the competition to determine the winners. First, they identified the leaders in 82 categories, and then selected 18 finalists.

The six best new cars of 2023 that are on the market right now were chosen. Each model is a leader in a set of qualities inherent in a particular segment.

The best new cars of 2023:

• Honda Civic;
• Chevrolet Bolt EV;
• Kia Sportage Hybrid;
• Hyundai Ioniq 5;
• Ford F-150;
• Ford F-150 Lightning.

Honda Civic was named the best passenger car. The category is simple and straightforward, which makes it very competitive. Chevrolet Bolt EV is the best passenger electric car according to Edmunds.

The Kia Sportage Hybrid compact crossover was named the best SUV. Interestingly, as a rule, Americans prefer larger models in this segment. The top spot in this category and class is taken by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 but with an electric powertrain.

Ford F-150 is the best pickup truck of 2023. Its electric modification, the Ford F-150 Lightning, won the best electric pickup truck nomination.
