Kia tested a new car: what makes the EV4 hatchback special

The South Korean automaker Kia continues to expand its line of electric vehicles. So recently, a prototype of the Kia EV4 hatchback was spotted on tests.

As Autoexpress writes, the hatchback will be presented along with a sedan version approximately next year. And there is already a lot of information about it online.

The EV4 will be based on Kia's all-electric e-GMP platform, most likely with a smaller electrical system than the 400V one in the new EV3. Battery sizes are also likely to be comparable to the EV3, with a combination of 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh options. They will be driven by a single electric motor with a capacity of about 200 hp. Variants with two motors are also in development.

The EV4 should also have similar charging capabilities, which in the EV3 are estimated at 102 kW for the smaller battery and 128 kW for the larger one. In both cases, a charge from 10% to 80% should take approximately 30 minutes.

The already available EV3 and the new EV4 will differ in design and proportions. The latter model will have a lower body and a more streamlined profile. The concept already showed a much lower nose and a more inclined windshield angle. These elements will not only change the aesthetics but also improve the aerodynamic effect.

Kia will also continue to follow the trend set earlier in the interior. It will be finished with soft-touch materials and a simple, clean dashboard architecture. The cabin will feature three different touchscreen displays that will be combined into a single 30-inch-wide panel. It will control everything from heating and ventilation to the car's infotainment system and driver assistance technologies.

There is no exact date for the launch of the Kia EV4. Its future price is also unknown.
