President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the arrest of world champion Oleksandr Usyk in Poland. On his Telegram channel, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych wrote that he had called the boxer at the moment he was detained.

Zelensky is outraged by this attitude towards our compatriot, champion and citizen.

"I have instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko to immediately investigate all the details of the incident at Krakow Airport," the president wrote.

Zelensky also added that Usyk was fine and had been released.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on the evening of September 17, Usyk was arrested at the Krakow airport.

According to the Polish portal Przeglad Sportowy, Usyk was undergoing a special examination at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, which is why he was in Poland. Oleksandr cooperates with Dr. Jakub Chitsky, who practices at this academy.

MP Jean Beleniuk posted two videos showing Usyk being taken away by law enforcement officers in handcuffs.

The boxer's wife also commented on the incident.

"Everything is fine, everything is fine! Oleksandr will explain everything later. There is nothing criminal. Good night, everyone," Kateryna wrote on her social media.

On the Internet, Ukrainian fans began to speculate about what caused the detention of the Crimean citizen. There were also traditional memes on the topic.
