How to safely wash off waterproof mascara if you don't have makeup remover: life hacks
Waterproof mascara is one of the most ingenious inventions in the world of cosmetics. Neither a bad mood, nor the weather, nor other circumstances will ruin your makeup if you use this product. The only problem that arises with it is difficulties with removal.
The easiest way is to use a special product. But what if you don't have it at hand? OBOZ.UA tells you about five proven alternative methods.
Micellar water
Such products contain special molecules of cleaning agents. They float in it like bubbles, so they do not create the feeling of soapy water, but do not lose their effectiveness. Micellar water can be used to wash off waterproof mascara if you don't have anything else at hand to help with this. Dampen a cotton pad with it and press it against your lashes for about 30 seconds. Slide the pad lightly over your eyes and repeat the procedure if necessary. However, do not rub your eyes too hard or you may cause irritation or eyelash loss.
Coconut or olive oil
Vegetable oils are practically in every home. And they can effectively wash off waterproof mascara. Simply apply a few drops to a cotton pad and gently run it through your lashes. Keep in mind that coconut oil is solid at room temperature, so you will have to preheat it to melt it. This can be done by applying a small amount to your fingers or simply to your eyelids. Then use a cotton pad to wipe off your makeup. After the mascara is removed, remove the remaining oil with a damp cloth. This method may not be suitable for people with sensitive skin prone to rashes.
Baby oil
This cosmetic product gently cares for the skin of a newborn baby. It also gently cleanses eyelashes from makeup. The method of application is the same – with a cotton pad. By the way, if you don't have one at hand, you can remove waterproof mascara by applying a drop of oil to your finger. But be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before doing so. You will also need to cleanse your face afterward, as makeup residue will remain around the eyes.
Double cleansing method
Double cleansing is great for removing all your makeup, and you don't need to use a separate waterproof mascara remover. The first step is to cleanse your entire face, including the eyelids, with an oil-based cleanser to dissolve all pigments and textures. Gently massage the oil into your skin for a minute or two, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Next, use a water-based cleanser to rinse away any residual oil and any traces of makeup that may be left on your skin. Finally, restore moisture to your skin by applying a moisturizer.
Makeup remover spray
A makeup remover in spray format is convenient even when you're on the go. You just spray it on your face from a can, give it a few seconds to work, and wipe it off with a tissue. However, dermatologists advise that after such a wash, you should additionally cleanse your skin and apply a cream.
