How to remove grass stains: clothes will be as good as new

The warm season is the ideal time for outdoor activities. However, in addition to pleasant emotions, it can also bring stains, from which it is very difficult to get rid of, for example, from grass.

But do not despair, because there are a number of simple and effective methods that will help to return the clothes to their original appearance. About them told the famous cleaning expert Karina Toner.

Grass stains are difficult to remove because of the chlorophyll and other organic substances contained in plants. But if you act properly, you can easily get rid of them.

1. Pre-treatment

Grass stains are easier to remove when they are fresh. The longer they remain on the fabric, the harder it will be to get them out. Pre-treating the stain helps break up the dirt before it has a chance to eat into the fibers.

If you notice a grass stain, apply a special stain remover to the soiled area as soon as possible. You can also use white vinegar or alcohol. Then gently rub the product into the fabric with a soft-bristled brush or your fingers and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.

2. Cold water

After pretreating the stain, it is important to rinse the soiled area thoroughly under cold running water. Never use hot water, as it can allow the dirt to deepen into the fibers of the fabric.

3. Hand washing

Take a stain remover or enzyme detergent and hand wash the dirty spot again and leave the garment again for 10-15 minutes.

4. Washing machine

After treating the stain, you should place the garment in the washing machine. Choose settings that are suitable for your type of fabric, but avoid modes with hot water.

5. Inspection before drying

After washing, it's important to carefully inspect your clothes to make sure the stain is completely gone. Heat from the dryer or from the sun can lock the dirt residue into the fabric, after which it will be nearly impossible to remove. If the stain is still there, repeat the previous steps until it is completely gone.
