How to disinfect down duvets and pillows without washing and dry cleaning: an easy way
Autumn is here and we will soon start getting warmer bedding to sleep more comfortably at night. However, first you need to clean and disinfect your down duvets and pillows as they may have accumulated dirt over the summer. By the way, this can be done without washing.
OBOZ.UA has collected some effective tips on this matter. You will not need your washing machine, where such a thing is at risk of not fitting, or dry cleaning services.
The sun has always been and remains our main ally in disinfecting home textiles. Therefore, all you need to do if your blanket is free of stains is to take it outside and hang it on a rope.
Choose a sunny day for the procedure. Make sure the rope is strong enough to support the weight of the blanket. If necessary, dust it off and leave it for a few hours. In the process, don't forget to turn the object over to the other side so that the sun can treat it evenly.
If there are stains on the blanket, hydrogen peroxide will help you. Apply a little liquid to the stained area and let it dry completely. For most household stains, this cleaning will be enough. If necessary, repeat the procedure several times.
Care for pillows that cannot be machine washed (feather or foam) is the same. Lay them out on the bed to disinfect them and treat stains with peroxide.
