Novice drivers often experience fear and uncertainty when driving. This can be caused by many factors: lack of practice, fear of liability, or simply lack of confidence in their skills.

That's why it's important to know the basic rules of the road and be able to start driving correctly. To help you ensure safety not only for yourself, but also for other road users, auto_pdr.ua has shared some useful tips.

Starting to drive

In any situation, before starting to drive, the driver must warn other road users of their intentions using signs. This should be done regardless of whether you see someone in the mirror or not, because the driver has blind spots.

Reversing

You should be even more cautious when reversing, especially if you are driving onto the road from behind some obstacles or from an angled parking lot.

If you cannot clearly see what is happening behind you, for example, as in the situation shown in the picture, then engage reverse gear and do not move for at least a few seconds. Other road users will see the reversing light and understand your intentions.

It is also possible that they will start honking their horns to warn you of danger.

Rebuilding a lane

Any driver, even a beginner, can drive straight ahead with confidence and skill. It would seem that this cannot cause any difficulties, but in practice, it is very rare to drive without maneuvers all the time. In any case, you have to periodically change lanes to get to the extreme position before a turn or to let cars that want to overtake you pass.

As a rule, changing lanes causes a lot of difficulties for beginners. First of all, you shouldn't change lanes rashly if you don't have to.

Secondly, if your route involves crossing several lanes at once, it is better to change lanes, because even experienced drivers find it difficult to do so in dense traffic.

However, if there is no way to avoid a complicated change of lane, you should pull over to the right near the sidewalk at a sufficiently large distance from the place where you are going to turn left or make a U-turn and wait for a gap in the traffic flow behind you.
