Five large asteroids are hurtling towards Earth: dangerous dates are named

In December 2023, the comet 144P/Chrysanthemum will come as close as possible to the Earth. Also, five potentially dangerous, rare, and largest asteroids are rushing toward our planet at high speed.

This formation was published by the Daily Mail. To date, scientists have discovered more than one million asteroids, of which more than 30,000 are considered potentially dangerous to the Earth.

Scientists have noted that if the size of an asteroid is larger than 140 meters and it can fly closer to the Earth than 7 million kilometers, then such a stone automatically falls into the category of potentially dangerous, and two out of five space rocks are such.

2001 QQ142

This is an asteroid that crosses the Earth's orbit and is the main source of meteorites that sometimes hit our planet. The width of the rock ranges from 347 meters to 1.5 kilometers, making it potentially dangerous. It is traveling at a speed of 23,900 km/h and will approach the Earth at a distance of 5.5 million kilometers on December 6 .

2008 EV5

The period of rotation around the Sun of this near-Earth rock is less than a year. The width of the asteroid 2008 EV5 is approximately 400 meters. It is traveling at a speed of 19,200 km/h and will approach the Earth at a distance of 6.3 million kilometers on December 20. It is also a potentially dangerous space object.

2019 CZ2

This asteroid is very small compared to the above asteroids. The size of the asteroid 2019 CZ2 is believed to be between 21 and 94 meters. The rock is traveling at a speed of 20,900 km/h and will be at a distance of 1.1 million kilometers from Earth on November 25.

2020 YO3

The width of the comic rock is estimated to be between 31 and 71 meters. Asteroid 2020 YO3 is traveling at a speed of 59,800 km/h. On December 23, the space rock will be at a distance of 1.3 million kilometers.

2013 VX4

This asteroid is also not very large compared to the others, with a diameter ranging from 44 to 99 meters. The flight speed is 23,600 km/h and on December 4 it will approach the Earth at a distance of 1.9 million kilometers.

According to scientists, there are no prerequisites for at least one asteroid from this list to fall to Earth.

Comet 144P/Chrysids

This is a short-period comet discovered in 1994 that makes a complete revolution around the Sun in 7.6 years. This comet will approach our planet on December 12, and on January 25 next year it will be at its closest point to the Sun.

Now the comet is in the constellation Aries, but it is moving towards the Earth at a speed of about 105,000 km/h.
