Belgorod region governor announces evacuation of two settlements

The evacuation of two villages, Petrovka and Solovyovka, has been announced in the Belgorod region of Russia. These settlements are located near the border with the Kharkiv region of Ukraine.

Russian Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced the relevant security measures at a HQ meeting on Tuesday, October 8. On his Telegram channel, the Kremlin aide said that the villages are being "closed to entry and the resettlement procedure is being initiated."

He assured that the residents would be provided with other housing, but did not specify the details. Gladkov cited "frequent shelling" as the reason for the decision.

In 2010, 413 people lived in Petrovka, and only 46 in Solovyovka.

According to the head of the Belgorod district, Anna Kutashova, almost everyone living in these villages has already left their homes. According to her, as of early October, less than 30 people remained in Petrovka.

Meanwhile, Russian regions continue to "chase" those Russians who agree to go to war against Ukraine for money. Since October 7, Belgorod region has become the "leader" - those civilians who suffered from shelling were promised 10 thousand rubles each, and those who agreed to join the army occupiers - 3 million in Russian currency (about 31 thousand dollars).

In a recent interview, the aggressor state's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow demands that Kyiv abandon its intentions to become a NATO member, withdraw troops beyond the administrative borders of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions (which Russia has not been able to fully occupy), lift all sanctions against Russia, carry out "demilitarization" and "denazification", and ensure "the rights, freedoms, and interests of Russian-speaking citizens."
