The German company discontinued production of the Volkswagen Beetle when sales fell under the pressure of crossovers. The car managed to survive in two modern generations. Each of them showed design references to the original Beetle of the mid-twentieth century.
The manufacturer's immediate plans for the future of the legendary model are unknown. Most likely, they do not exist at all. Once, the option of turning the Beetle into a crossover and then into an electric car was considered. But none of these options came close to the assembly line.
