A classified Chinese spacecraft has been caught on camera for the first time. The orbiter, called Shenlong, which means "Divine Dragon" in Chinese, is making its third flight around the Earth.

The secret Chinese spacecraft has been in space since December last year. Western experts and the military do not know what goals this mysterious object is pursuing in orbit, as China keeps this information under seven locks, Space.com writes.

So far, experts have not had an accurate idea of what the Divine Dragon looks like. However, Felix Schefbenker, a veteran space observer from Austria, managed to capture this secret object.

Schäfbenker used a telescope with a 14-inch mirror and a satellite tracking mechanism that automatically keeps the satellites in the center of the field of view. "I take these images by shooting video during the flyby and then stacking and sharpening the best shots," Felix said.

The two solar panels that can be seen at the end of the video are not visible in any computer visualization available online. "I'm not really sure if they're solar panels or some other elements like an antenna or something like that," Schofbenker added.

The satellite spotter measures the length of the ship at about 10 meters. This means that the Chinese Divine Dragon is longer than the American X-37B spaceplane operated by the US Space Force.

"But this may also be a bit off, as the angle at which the plane is illuminated may hide certain features. I can't say anything about the wingspan, as they are not visible in my images," Felix Schaeffenker emphasized.

Recently, Shenlong, which was launched into orbit on December 14, 2023, by a Long March 2F rocket, has lowered its altitude, now it is about 350 kilometers above the Earth.
