Why seedlings do not grow well: the reason is these common mistakes
Experienced gardeners know that seedlings can be planted as early as the end of winter to ensure a bountiful and early harvest. However, it often happens that the seed is just beginning to germinate, sprouts appear when all growth suddenly stops, and neither changing the conditions nor adjusting watering helps.
There can be many reasons for this: from the characteristics of the plant variety to unfavorable, poor soil. Read the OBOZ.UA article to find out what common mistakes can impair the growth of seedlings.
First of all, you should pay attention to the crop variety. Before planting, you need to study all the requirements of plants for normal growth conditions.
The soil should be chosen based on the manufacturer's recommendations if it is packaged store-bought seeds. You should pay attention to:
- availability of drainage;
- soil fertility and nutrient saturation;
- acidity level.
It would seem that high-quality watering will ensure faster emergence of seedlings, but experts do not advise overwatering crops. Excess or lack of water equally slows down the growth and development of plants. Excessive watering can cause barely formed roots to rot.
Temperature changes, lack of daylight, and other stressful conditions can lead to rapid germination, but the seedlings will be weak and may soon wither. Take care of the availability of additional lighting and control the temperature.
