How long does it take to eliminate beer, wine and vodka from the blood

The unchanging axiom for every driver sounds very simple: if you have been drinking, don't drive. But often drivers level this rule, thereby not only violating the law, but also creating a danger to all road users.

The statistics of accidents with the participation of drunk drivers, unfortunately, does not decrease. It often happens that in the morning after a loud party or a party with friends the drivers bravely sit behind the wheel without thinking that their blood can still contain a large dose of alcohol. The edition of Ampercar told when it is allowed to drive a car after drinking beer, wine and vodka.

Peculiarities of a hangover

In the morning, without feeling a hangover, drivers believe that everything is fine, the alcohol has evaporated and they can go to work in their own car. Specialists caution: regardless of how you feel, there may still be a fairly high dose of alcohol in the blood. There are three factors to consider:

  1. The amount of beer, wine, vodka, etc. drank;
  2. How much time has passed since drinking;
  3. How the body tolerates alcohol (individual characteristics).

The last point includes physiological parameters:

  • driver's weight
  • sex
  • liver condition
  • metabolic rate
  • digestive function
  • the amount of food consumed, etc.

According to doctors, even if you have had a few beers, you should not drive.

Will sleep help to sober up quickly

There's a very popular myth: They say that sleeping helps you sober up quickly. Experts say that this is not true. Sleep does not affect the blood alcohol dose.

The same can be said about coffee. There is an opinion that strong tea, coffee, contrast showers will contribute to sobering up. In fact, all these methods will just encourage the driver, but in no way remove alcohol from the body.

How long does it take to get rid of alcohol

If you've had a beer

Doctors say that simple mathematics works here. For example, if the driver drank 0.5 liters of beer, its content in the blood will approach zero after 2-2.5 hours. Further - in ascending order: 1 liter will be eliminated in 4-4,5 hours, 1,5 liters - in 7 hours, etc.

How long does it take to eliminate wine

It takes 10.5 hours to clear the blood of the alcohol contained in a bottle of wine. If you drink 500 ml, the blood will be clear in 7.5 hours. If you choose to drink 100 ml of wine, the alcohol will be eliminated from the blood in 1.5 hours.

Vodka data

Vodka is the strongest drink, so it is logical that it will take much longer to excrete it. Doctors say that 0.5 liters of vodka will be in the body for another 24 hours. That is, 100 grams of vodka drunk will be in the blood for about 4 hours after consumption.

Earlier OBOZREVATEL told that from January to May 2023 in the Kyiv region were written out more than 15 million hryvnia fines for drunk driving.
