Grater

A grater is used in the preparation of many dishes. And although there are many different devices on the market to speed up the process of chopping vegetables, a good old-fashioned grater will always come in handy.

Most often, the so-called "beet" side with the largest holes is used. But the large slots on the side are often overlooked. Why do you need side slots and how to use them correctly - read the OBOZ.UA article.

Why do we need side openings?

Nowadays, side slots are often overlooked in the process of chopping vegetables, but they were actively used a few decades ago.

Narrow side slots come in handy when cutting food into thin slices. For example, if you need to perfectly thinly slice cheese or cucumber to decorate salads or main dishes, a side slicer will be an indispensable tool.

Instructions for use

  • Place the grater horizontally, with the side with narrow slits on top.
  • Slide the selected product through the slots and you will easily get almost transparent slices that will be the perfect decoration.
  • The side slicer can also be used for slicing appetizers.

The square side is also usually overlooked, and in vain. It will help you to chop carrots or cabbage for salads with high quality. And a grater with large holes will come in handy even during the baking process: it is on it that you can grind hard butter to quickly achieve its softness or melting.
