Amazing animals can be found not only in cartoons and games. Some creatures that look like toys and even aliens live right next to us. And some of them can even be adopted as pets.

The blue dragon

The gastropod Glaucus atlanticus impresses with its bright blue color and resemblance to a fantastic bird, although it lives in water - in tropical seas and oceans. Its distinctive coloration warns that the blue dragon is a dangerous predator and can bite with a very strong venom.

Slow loris

This fluffy little guy with giant eyes is a nocturnal primate that lives in Indochina and Indonesia. It is a relative of the famous Madagascar cat lemur, but slow in movement and therefore very touching. Due to its phlegmatic nature, the fat lorikeet is one of the few lemurs that can be kept in captivity. However, their saliva can be poisonous, so caring for a slow loris is not as easy as it sounds.

Blobfish

What makes this creature unusual is its muzzle, which resembles a human face with large, pouty lips and a long nose. However, it only looks like this when it is taken out of the water. In its usual environment, it looks more typical of a fish. You can find this curiosity in the deepest waters of Tasmania, New Zealand and Australia. Female blobfish are able to sit down to lay eggs in the same way as birds do.

Axolotl

Have you ever wanted to never grow up and stay a child forever? The larva of the amphibian ambystoma has learned to do this. And for this, it received a special name - axolotl. The animal has phenomenal regenerative abilities and can regrow a lost limb or even a part of the brain. An axolotl can be kept as a pet, but it is better to have experience in keeping at least aquarium fish.

Japanese spider crab

This crustacean looks terrifying and fantastic because of its long legs. It is often compared to aliens from horror movies that can leap over a skyscraper in one step. In fact, the body of the spider crab is somewhat more compact, it can reach 45 cm in length, and the span of the first, longest pair of legs is almost 4 meters. This amazing creature can live up to 100 years. It can be settled in a home aquarium. But the house must be of the right size.

Okapi

This distant relative of the giraffe looks like the fruit of this majestic animal's sin with the zebra. You can meet this amazing creature in the Democratic Republic of Congo. With its long tongue, the okapi can clean its own eyelids and ears and even drive away insects from its neck.

The pacu fish

A member of the piranha family is shocking because it has teeth that look very similar to humans. Unlike their formidable but smaller relatives, these Amazonian inhabitants feed mainly on nuts and seeds, so they don't need sharp teeth. The pacu can be kept like aquarium fish. Some aquarists even claim that they can become attached to their owners.
