Former Dynamo Kyiv footballer Oleksandr Aliyev has refused to switch to Ukrainian despite Russia's invasion of our country. The former national team player and native of Khabarovsk noted that he has always spoken Russian and expressed hope for understanding.

Aliyev said this in a video message to the fans, which he posted on his Instagram page. The vice-champion of the European Youth Championship tried to speak Ukrainian, but admitted that it was difficult for him.

"You all ask me why I speak Russian. Because I have always spoken and will continue to speak Russian. This is a personal matter for everyone. You see, it's very difficult for me (Aliyev had been trying to speak Ukrainian up to that point - Ed.) So I have spoken, am speaking and will continue to speak Russian. The way I feel comfortable. I think you understand me," Aliyev said.

Earlier, Aliyev said that during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, he would try to kill him. He also admitted that he began to receive many threats from Russians after he enlisted in the territorial defence of Kyiv to protect the country from the Russian invaders.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu said that he had a new health problem and could undergo surgery again.
