How to remove stubborn stains from a mattress: a home method
Mattress stains are an almost unavoidable problem. First, it comes into contact with the body, even through the sheets, and this is a constant source of contamination. Secondly, few of us can really refrain from eating and drinking in bed, which also leads to stains. And, of course, children and pets play a role here.
Such stains are not entirely harmless. They can become a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. That's why OBOZ.UA publishes a recipe for a simple homemade remedy that will allow you to clean your mattress at home.
All you need to deal with even the smallest stains on the mattress is a little baking soda and white vinegar. Together, they enter into a reaction that destroys even stubborn dirt without damaging the fabric.
To clean your mattress, sprinkle a little baking soda on the stain. Then sprinkle vinegar on the baking soda. They will immediately begin to foam. During this reaction, carbon dioxide is actively released - it is its bubbles that destroy the dirt. The stain literally disintegrates before your eyes. This combination works even on dried blood.
But make sure that the mattress does not get wet due to the large amount of vinegar. The surface should remain moist, not wet. Waterlogging the mattress can lead to mold and mildew.
Leave the baking soda and vinegar on for 30 minutes. After that, use a paper towel or a vacuum cleaner with an upholstered furniture attachment to collect the remaining product and thoroughly blot the cleaned area from moisture.
Do not rush to cover the mattress immediately. Let it dry completely first. To speed up the drying process, open windows or use a fan.
