What to clean sunglasses with

Sunglasses will not only protect you from bright sunlight but also complement your summer look. The only downside is the vulnerable glass, which quickly gets dirt, dust, and scratches.

The old and actually not very good way - breathing on the glass and wiping it with clothes - can only make the situation worse. OBOZREVATEL figured out how to clean sunglasses so as not to spoil or scratch them.

How to clean sunglasses properly

According to experts, the most effective way to clean sunglasses is to use two ingredients: soap and water.

Step 1. First of all, wash your hands to avoid getting grease and dirt on the frame.

Step 2. Clean the surface from debris and dust by rinsing the lenses with warm water. Even small solid residues can scratch the glass during the cleaning process.

Step 3. The best glasses cleaner is liquid soap or dishwashing detergent. After wiping the frame, apply 2-3 drops of the product to the lenses.

Step 4. Now rinse the glasses in warm water. Rinse several times so that the soap is completely washed off.

Step 5. Dry your glasses with a microfiber cloth. It does not scratch the lenses and does not leave stains.

What not to do when cleaning glasses

Using paper towels

Paper products are made of cellulose fibers that can scratch glasses.

Drying in the open air

If you dry your glasses in the open air, there is a high risk that the glasses will become streaked.

Wiping with clothing

Do not wipe the glass with clothing as pollen, dust, and skin cells accumulate in the fibers, which will leave marks and may cause scratches.

Breathing on glass

Firstly, it's not hygienic. Secondly, coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, alcohol, and even juice affect the acidity of saliva and liquid particles. Of course, you shouldn't spit on your glasses. All of this can damage the coating.

Using aggressive cleaning agents

Store-bought eyeglass cleaners can also have a negative impact on glass as they typically contain ammonia, bleach, acetone, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol, which are key ingredients for cleaning glass and making it streak-free. However, these chemicals are very dangerous for tinted glass as they can damage it and wash away the tint.
