Clothes will be fresher than ever: what is a "hidden" button in the washing machine for
If you don't clean your washing machine regularly, you run the risk of encountering some problems. Unpleasant odors from the drum and dirt between the rubber seals are just the tip of the iceberg.
Detergent residue settles in the detergent compartment with each wash, and sometimes it can dry out so badly that it can lead to negative consequences. However, the experts said that the washing machine has a "rescue" button that will fix the situation.
When you open the detergent container, you can see the "Push" button. Have you ever wondered what it is for?
In fact, the button performs an important function. When pressed, the container easily "slips out". All you have to do is move it to the sink and wash it thoroughly.
Detergent compartments are vulnerable parts of your washing machine. If they are not cleaned regularly, mold can form on them. This causes an unpleasant odor on the clothes that lingers even after washing.
However, some washing machines do not have this function. You need to clean the laundry detergent compartment at least once every two months, otherwise, the powder residue will dry out to a very hard state. Alternatively, you can use a toothbrush. Experts say that the main reason for the contamination of the compartments is the low water pressure and low-quality detergents that stick to the walls.
Mold and limescale often appear in the compartments. Simple and affordable ingredients such as baking soda, vinegar, and citric acid will come in handy.
There are several recipes. For example, you can mix ½ cup of water and ½ cup of baking soda and rinse all the compartments with water after thoroughly washing them with a toothbrush.
White vinegar mixed with baking soda will help to remove fungal spores and lime scale.
2-3 tablespoons of citric acid, poured into the powder compartment when the machine is empty, will disinfect the drum and help get rid of unpleasant odors.
