Mackerel is one of the most budget-friendly, tasty and healthy products. You can cook it in many different ways: pickle it, boil it, bake it, add it to salads, and even make soups.

But if you want to pickle it very quickly and deliciously, the recipe shared by food blogger Maria (marichka_cooking) on Instagram will be perfect (to watch the video, scroll to the end).

Ingredients:

  • frozen mackerel - 1 kg
  • onion - 1-2 pcs.
  • liter jar

Marinade:

  • water - 0.5 l
  • cinnamon - 1/3 tsp.
  • cloves - 3 pcs.
  • oil - 2 tbsp. l
  • coriander - 1/2 tsp.
  • allspice - 3 pcs.
  • bay leaf - 2-3 pcs.
  • salt - 2 tbsp.
  • sugar - 1.5 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Defrost the fish. Gut it and cut it into small pieces.

2. Cut onion into rings.

3. Put the onion and mackerel in a jar.

4. For the marinade, mix water, sugar, salt, and all the spices in a saucepan. Put on the stove, bring to a boil, and cook for another 10 minutes.

5. Pour the prepared cold marinade over the fish so that it completely covers it and refrigerate for a day.
