Eggs are one of those foods that can spoil quickly even when stored in the refrigerator. However, there is one simple way to extend the shelf life of the product. One ingredient will help.

The FoodOboz editorial team has gathered information and will tell you what to rub eggs with to keep them fresh longer.

To make eggs last much longer, experienced housewives recommend rubbing them with sunflower oil.

The oil should be applied evenly to the surface of the egg in a thin layer. It forms a so-called protective film against external irritants and extends the shelf life of eggs. It is worth noting that this method is suitable for both home and purchased eggs.

The shelf life of eggs:

  • Three weeks if you do not store the product in the refrigerator. At the same time, it is important that the room temperature does not exceed 10 °C.
  • One to three months if you store eggs in the refrigerator. It is best to store them on the door compartment.

How to identify a spoiled egg

It is very easy to identify the signs of a spoiled egg at home. The easiest way is to fill a deep bowl with cold water and dip an egg in it.

If the egg sinks to the bottom and seems to turn over on its side, the egg is fresh; if it sinks and ends up on the bottom in a vertical position side down, it is difficult to call it fresh.
