How to cook sauerkraut properly to make it crispy and tasty: a recipe to share
White cabbage is one of the most budget-friendly, tasty, and healthy vegetables that can be used to make salads, stuffed cabbage, soups, and borscht. It is also ideal for pickling.
Cook Oksana shared a recipe for delicious sauerkraut with cumin, carrots, and spices on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- Cabbage – 1 kg.
- Carrots – 1/2 pc.
- Salt – 24 g
- Black peppercorns – 4-5 pcs.
- Allspice – 1 pc.
- Cumin – a pinch
- Bay leaf – 1-2 pcs.
- Sugar – 5 g
Method of preparation:
1. Chop the cabbage finely, and put it into a large bowl to make it easy to mix.
2. Add salt, sugar, pepper, carrots and mix well.
3. Add cumin and bay leaf, and mix again.
4. Cover with a plate and put under the press for 3 days. Be sure to stir the cabbage so that it does not become bitter and has a pleasant taste and smell.
5. After that, put the cabbage in a jar and store it in a cold place.
Before eating, be sure to squeeze the cabbage out of the juice, season with vegetable oil, and you're ready to eat!
