Famous Linzer cookies for Christmas: how to make them
Linzer cookies are a dessert of Austrian origin that dates back more than three centuries. The base is crispy shortbread dough, and your favorite jam is ideal for filling. It is the perfect pastry for Christmas celebrations.
The idea of making Linzer cookies for Christmas was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Ivanna Lutz (ivankaluts). The various patterns look very festive and beautiful
Ingredients:
- 360 g flour
- 240 g of cold butter
- 120 g of powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- a pinch of salt
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- zest of 0.5 lemon
- 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
Additional ingredients:
- thick jam
- powder - sprinkle cookies on top if desired.
Method of preparation:
1. Mix flour with baking powder and powdered sugar.
2. Add cold butter. You can cut it into cubes or grate it, dipping it into the flour mixture.
3. Grind everything into crumbs.
4. Add salt, egg yolks, zest and lemon juice.
5. Knead the dough quickly to form a ball.
6. Put in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
7. Roll out 4-5 mm thick dough. Sprinkle with flour on a work surface if necessary.
8. Cut out the figures in pairs: one product is a circle, the other is a hole so that the filling can be seen when we cover it with jam.
9. Bake at 170 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
10. Then add jam.
11. Ready cookies can be stored in a hermetically sealed container to keep longer.
