John Malkovich made an ambiguous statement about the war in Ukraine and stood up for Russian actors

The famous American actor, director and producer, Emmy Award winner and Oscar nominee John Malkovich does not hide his open sympathy for Russia. The Hollywood star has repeatedly visited Moscow, and in 2017 he even starred in the Russian Federation in the film "About Love. For adults only". That is why the filmmaker does not support the global "ban" on Russian actors and culture in general.

As for the war in Ukraine, Malkovich calls it "a real horror," but supports the well-known narrative of the "good Russians" that "politicians are to blame for everything." The star shared his ambiguous statements in an interview with Spectrum.

The actor does not understand why "serious people do not sit down at the negotiating table." He believes that both Ukraine and Russia are to blame for this war.

"We can only hope that serious people will find an opportunity to sit down at the negotiating table and end this horror. But so far, it does not seem to be part of either side's strategy. I was shocked when the war in Ukraine started, and everything I have seen over the past year and a half is literally tearing me apart," Malkovich commented.
