How to remove deodorant stains: quick and effective ways

It is better to remove deodorant stains as soon as possible

All year round, deodorant is one of the most indispensable cosmetic products for both men and women. But while it protects us from sweat stains and unpleasant odours, it can also leave white or yellow marks on fabrics. Luckily, you can get rid of them if you know how to remove deodorant traces from your clothes.

OBOZREVATEL tells you about several effective home remedies. The sooner you use them after the stain appears, the better the result. It will be very difficult to remove old marks. Also, experts do not advise washing off deodorant residues with hot water - this will cause it to penetrate the fabric even more. And don't forget to test the chosen product in an inconspicuous place - it may be incompatible with some textile dyes.

Lemon juice

Freshly squeezed lemon juice can fight not only deodorant streaks, it is also good at removing sweat stains. It is suitable for light coloured fabrics, but is probably not suitable for dark and coloured fabrics due to its acidity. Put the item in the undiluted juice so that the stain is completely soaked, and leave it for 2 to 10 minutes. After that, rinse the item as usual.

Aspirin

Another acidic remedy, but with a milder effect, so it is suitable for both coloured and black hair. Dissolve two tablets of effervescent aspirin in half a glass of cold water. With this solution, you need to moisten the stain well, then rub it with a brush and leave it to act for 2-3 hours. Then the item can be washed in the usual way.

Vinegar

Acetic acid, unlike lemon juice, is not suitable for white items, as it can leave yellow stains on them. Apply a 9% solution to a cotton pad and treat the stains with it. Leave the clothes soaked in vinegar for several hours, and you can leave them overnight for heavy stains. After that, it is sent for normal washing.

Baking soda

Baking soda works well on light coloured clothes. Dilute the baking soda powder with cool water to form a thick paste. Use this paste to treat the stain and rub it in with a soft brush. For example, an old toothbrush will do. After a few hours, remove the dried soda with a brush and rinse the item in warm water.

Laundry soap

This tool is only suitable for dealing with fresh traces. But it will work on things made of any fabric and any colour. You will need to rub the stain with soap, and then soak the whole thing in its solution - you can use the liquid form of the product. After a few hours, you just need to wash the item.

Dishwashing liquid with glycerine

For dishwashing liquid to work on traces of deodorant, it needs to contain glycerin - it will break down the dirt. A light liquid is best - it can be used to clean even white items. The product should be poured generously onto the stain and rubbed in properly with a sponge. After about an hour, the item should be washed by hand and rinsed well.

Alcohol solution

To prepare a solution of the required concentration, take vodka and medical alcohol diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio. After mixing the two liquids, apply the product to the stains with a cotton pad. Light stains should start to disappear in a few minutes. If it is more persistent, you can leave an alcohol compress on it for about an hour. After that, the clothes should be rinsed and washed in the usual way. This method is not suitable for light fabrics.
