A participant of the show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" used the "call a friend" prompt and dialed his wife: the voice on the other end of the phone puzzled everyone

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" contestant became popular because of an embarrassing call to his wife

Sometimes unpredictable situations happen on TV shows that become memes for years to come. This is what happened to the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" project, which was contested by science teacher J.P. Morgan from Lincoln, USA, three years ago. He used the "call a friend" prompt to ask his wife for help, but it wasn't her who answered.

The confusion went viral online, garnering millions of views on various social networks. Viewers experienced the awkward moment together with the hero of the program and expressed theories about who answered the call.

The host asked the participant which of the four days listed was a weekend in Germany, but the teacher did not know the answer. At stake was 16 thousand pounds (760 thousand hryvnias).

He recalled his wife's stories about her relatives in this country and shared: "My wife's aunt has lived in Germany for over 50 years. My wife, who would otherwise probably be in the audience, is at home as one of my 'call friends,'" JP Morgan explained.

He asked to call his wife, expecting help, but instead the entire audience and the audience heard a man's voice mumbling something.

The host rushed to reassure the confused player, and soon his wife answered the call and confirmed that she was not alone.

She helped her husband win the round, so he went home with a considerable prize. However, the online discussions did not subside for a long time.

Some viewers joked that the show had exposed adultery, while others sympathized with the hero for his situation. However, there is another version.

The show's loyal fans watched the segment again and assumed that no one answered the call because there was no connection with the caller. They say that the studio played an automatic recording that can be heard when the phone is turned off or out of range.
