According to The Hollywood Reporter, Duchess and Duke Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of Sussex have been named the biggest losers in Hollywood because of a documentary series released on the Netflix streaming platform called Harry and Meghan. Viewers were expecting sensational stories about the royal family, but ended up with a boring movie.
"A whiny Netflix documentary, a whiny biography, and an inert podcast" is how The Hollywood Reporter described Harry and Meghan in its list of the "Biggest Hollywood Winners and Losers of 2023." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are among the top 11 most unsuccessful films.

"In 2020, the royal duo left ceremonial public service to pursue their celebrity status in the States. But after a whiny Netflix documentary, a whiny biography (Spare (Prince Harry's autobiographical book) - even the title is puffery), and an inert podcast, Harry and Meghan's brand had swelled into a sanctimonious bubble that was just begging to be burst," The Hollywood Reporter wrote.
Earlier, the Sussex couple published an annual report of their charity and a brilliant promotional movie that showcases their good deeds in 2023, but it also became known that their finances had deteriorated sharply, the Daily Mail writes. The profits of their foundation, the Archewell Foundation, have turned to losses.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
This year has been a very tumultuous one for the couple, not only because of the ridicule for the series, but also because of Harry's famous memoir, "Spare," which topped the bestseller lists, but also because of the Duke's personal popularity ratings.
Meghan Markle also had an Archetypes podcast on Spotify. But in June this year, the company terminated the agreement after the first season. The termination of the partnership was partly due to the inconsistent publication of content, as Spotify usually requires several episodes of a podcast to be released on a regular basis, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
The book about Prince Harry became a bestseller but ruined the Duke's rating.
