"It's a serpentarium": ONUKA explains why she doesn't want to participate in Eurovision
Ukrainian singer and lead singer of the electro-folk band ONUKA Nataliia Zhyzhchenko has admitted why she does not plan to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The star noted that she does not want to meet the standards and clearly defined "framework" of the music competition.
The artist talked about this in an interview on the YouTube channel "Straight Red." In 2017, the singer appeared on the international stage of the song contest as a guest, which, according to the celebrity, was the perfect format for her.
"For me, it's a real serpentarium. It seems to me that a person who goes to the National Selection is ready to listen to everything about themselves, to humiliate themselves as much as possible. Although not to be humiliated, but to withstand the maximum amount of hate," the singer said.
Nataliia Zhyzhchenko admitted that her guest performance was the moment she put an end to her Eurovision career. Back then, the performer was not limited in timing, the number of musicians on stage, or the choice of a song. According to the star, it's hard to imagine a better format for her appearance at the song contest.
"A large audience saw it. I played what I wanted to play. No one would have let me play the track "Vidlik" at the National Selection. For me, it's cool to do something despite everything. This "despite" worked once again," the artist added.
