It became known what Meghan Markle will be called if she loses the title of Duchess

What will Meghan Markle be called if Charles strips her of her royal title

A royal expert has explained what Meghan Markle will be called after she is stripped of her royal title. The Duchess of Sussex will become "Princess Henry" because Prince Harry's full name is Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, told The Royal Beat that it is unlikely that the king will strip the couple of their royal titles, despite their abdication in 2020. This was reported by the NY Post.

"I don't think anything will happen to the titles, because if they lose their titles, Harry will still be a prince by blood, and Meghan will be Princess Henry instead of the Duchess of Sussex," the expert says. In her opinion, it would be more appropriate to leave everything as it is.

So, if Meghan lost her title, she would be called "Princess Henry," because according to royal tradition, a princess takes the official title in her husband's name. The same rule applies to Kate Middleton, who was actually known as Princess William, but is now called the Princess of Wales or Duchess of Cambridge. However, as Seward points out, Harry and Meghan will likely remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex forever.

Royal author Tom Quinn recently stated that Charles and Prince William "discussed at length the issue of stripping" the couple of their royal titles. However, the professional does not believe that the king and his son will take such a step. "They are afraid that it will lead to the opposite consequences and worsen the situation," Quinn says.
