"Do you want to sit on my lap?" A video with Santa and a three-year-old girl went viral: what she said

A three-year-old girl refused to sit on Santa's lap

On Christmas Eve in Europe and America, it is very common for children to make wishes to a physical Santa Claus. Most of the time, they ask him to sit on their knees and whisper their dreams into their ears. And the children willingly do so. But three-year-old Adley refused Santa.

Then the girl decided to stand next to Santa, who turned out to be the Rev. Steve Lantz. This act made her mom, influencer Katie Love, Klaus himself, and Internet users very happy, People writes.

In a video posted on Love's TikTok page, the mother recorded the conversation between her daughter and Santa Claus, sharing that Adley refused to sit on his lap.

"I told her it was her body and she was in control," Santa said in the video.

"I asked if she wanted to sit on my lap and she said no. And I said, 'This is a way to stand up for yourself. You can't even let Santa do that if he asks you to sit on his lap. If you don't want to, you say no!" Klaus said to the girl.

This conversation made the mother very happy, and Love posted it on social media. "That answer was [fire - ed.] Thank you, Santa Claus, for respecting my daughter's choice and even praising her for it!" Love wrote in the caption to her video.

Love told People that although Adley had met Santa last year, her daughter did not realize the unfamiliar danger at the time. "I told her before we got in line that she didn't have to sit on his lap if she didn't want to," she said. "We always say at home that it's her choice if she wants to hug or kiss someone, even if it's family!"

"As a child, I was always taught to be polite and do what you're told, and I want my daughter to feel in full control of her body. She doesn't need to suppress her discomfort to make someone else feel comfortable. She has the power to say NO," Love continued her explanation.

It is worth noting that the TikTok video also touched Santa himself, who turned out to be a reverend. He posted the video on his Instagram, writing that it was a "proud moment" for him.

"My goal as Santa Claus is to bring God's light to dark places. One of the ways to do this is to affirm the dignity of children. I am grateful to the parents of this little girl who have already given her the opportunity to use one of the most powerful words No!" Steve Luntz captioned the video.

In the comments to the video on TikTok, people praised the girl and Santa, but also noticed Adley's curious look. Here are some of them: "She's like: "Specifically... can you take your hand off your shoulder as well? Thank you." She was like: "Okay, but I was talking about that Barbie house", "Oh, she's so cute, her little crooked smile".
