Brigitte Brink

Bridget AnnBrink is the US ambassador to Ukraine.

Brief biography

Bridget Brink was born in Michigan, USA.

She received her higher education at Kenyon College and the London School of Economics. She has a bachelor's degree in political science and master's degrees in international relations and political theory.

She joined the U.S. Department of State in 1996.

In 1997-1999, she worked in Belgrade as a consular political officer at the U.S. Embassy.

For the next three years she worked as a desk officer in Cyprus.

From 2002 to 2004, she was Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs in Europe at the U.S. Department of State.

From 2005 to 2008, she was a political-economic manager in Tbilisi. Subsequently, she was Deputy Director for Southern European Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

In 2009-2010, she helped coordinate U.S. foreign policy while serving on the President's National Security Council as Director for the Aegean and South Caucasus. She promoted U.S. interests in relations with Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

In 2011, she became Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi.

In 2014-2015, she was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent.

From 2015-2018, she worked in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

In May 2019, she was appointed US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Slovakia by decision of then US President Donald Trump.

Ambassador to Ukraine

In January 2022, it was reported that US President Joe Biden selected Brink to serve as US Ambassador to Ukraine. The official appointment has not yet been released. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in February 2022 launched a procedure to approve Brink's candidacy for the post of ambassador to Ukraine.

On May 30, Brink arrived in Ukraine to perform the duties of Ambassador.
