Macron confirms that the proposal for Western troops was balanced

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that his every word on the war in Ukraine is "balanced and thoughtful." This also applies to his statement about the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

This was Macron's answer to journalists' questions. However, this happened at the opening of the Olympic Village in Saint-Denis. Therefore, according to Le Monde, the French leader refused to give any "geopolitical comments" because "this is not the place" for it.

"These are very serious topics. Every word I say on this topic is balanced, thoughtful, and measured," Macron emphasized. He also added that "sport should bring unity and peace."

As reported by OBOZ.UA, discussions on sending troops to Ukraine began at a meeting of presidents, heads of governments, and ministries from 28 countries, which recently took place in Paris at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. At the meeting, he stated that no EU state is currently planning to send its military contingent to Ukraine, but "it is possible that this position may change in the future."

Polish President Andrzej Duda was the first to comment on Macron's words. He explained that the participants of the meeting did not agree and did not show much enthusiasm for this idea.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also said that the Alliance had no plans to send troops to Ukraine.

Later, other partners of Ukraine commented on Macron's idea. For example, the governments of Spain, Italy, and Belgium, which also disagreed with France's proposal, simply referred to the material assistance they provide, which they consider sufficient.
