Funny to hear from Russia's representative: Israel reacted to Nebenzi's words that the country has no right to self-defense against Hamas

Israel was outraged by the cynical statement of Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzi that the country has no right to self-defense against Hamas, as it is allegedly an "occupier." In response, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan said that "Russia is the last country" that can make such statements.

This is reported by the Israeli edition of Ynet. Erdan also added that Russia is using the Hamas attack to divert the world's attention from its invasion of Ukraine.

During the war in Gaza, relations between Israel and Russia have been gradually deteriorating due to Moscow's siding with Hamas terrorists.

Thus, during the 10th emergency special session on the settlement of the conflict in the Middle East, which took place on November 1, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya made a cynical statement against Israel. In particular, he said that in the current military conflict with Hamas terrorists, Israel cannot have the right to self-defense, as Israel is allegedly an "occupying power."

In response, Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan said that such statements by the Russian representative are ridiculous against the background of the fact that Russia has invaded the territory of Ukraine.

"It's ridiculous to hear a Russian representative preaching morality to Israel on human rights and international law. As a person who was excluded by UN countries even from membership in the Human Rights Council, Russia is the last person who can preach to us.

Everyone in the world knows very well how Russia would react if thousands of its citizens were killed and kidnapped by a terrorist organization. It's unfortunate that Russia is using the Nazi terrorist act of Hamas in a distorted way to divert the world's attention from its invasion of Ukraine," the Israeli ambassador said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the escalation in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine is likely to be resolved through a political solution. And the war started by Russia in Ukraine cannot be ended politically - there must be a winner and a loser in this confrontation. This opinion was expressed by Yale University professor and American historian Timothy Snyder.
