"The war could spread to NATO countries." Zelenskyy explains why Russia needs to be stopped and speaks about China-Africa peace plan

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the war in the Middle East and the Russian-Ukrainian war cannot be compared. In both cases, people are dying, but in Ukraine, a full-scale war is underway, which carries the risk of escalating into an even larger confrontation.

The Head of State noted that if Ukraine falls, the aggressor country, Russia, will not stop and may attack NATO countries. Zelenskyy said this during a conversation with representatives of the Reuters news agency (scroll to the bottom of the page to watch the video).

According to the president, millions of Ukrainian citizens have been forced to flee their homes due to Russian aggression. Currently, we are talking about about 8 million refugees.

At the same time, if Ukraine is defeated, the world will see millions of victims and tens of millions of people forced to seek refuge in different countries.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that military intelligence data confirms that the terrorist state of Russia is considering an attack on NATO countries. Ukraine shares this information with its partners, so the West knows the threat posed by Russia.

"I am not trying to say that something is more important. No, with all due respect to all nations, you have to understand that a full-scale war is a completely different thing. Today we are talking about millions - millions of people who do not live here but are abroad. We are talking about 7-8 million people. So if Ukraine is broken up by Russia, you will see millions of victims and tens of millions of immigrants. And after Ukraine, the war could spread to NATO countries. This is a fact. We have intelligence documents and we always share these documents with our partners," Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, the President of Ukraine noted that Russia has close ties with Iran, so Moscow is interested in the conflict in the Middle East.

"They understand how high the risk of a full-scale war is. The crisis in the Middle East is part of Russia's global idea. Today, Russia is with Iran. This is a fact. I understand that Congress has political problems because of the election period and other factors – I understand that. But we cannot compare this," the President of Ukraine said.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that any territorial compromises and concessions are out of the question. Ukraine is fighting for its territories, and Russia should be a target for global democracy at this time.

If it comes to territorial concessions, it could undermine the territorial integrity of any country on any continent, including Asia and Africa. That is why Ukraine intends to de-occupy all territories and drive the aggressor out of its country.

"Why do you think that a country that is at war and attacked should be ready to compromise? I mean, today we are a target for Russia, but not a target for the world. We are a target for Russia, but Russia should be a target for the world, for democracy. If our territories are compromised, you have to understand what will happen in other countries, on other continents, everywhere. Then the territories of other countries, other peoples, including Asia, Africa, and other regions, will be compromised," Zelenskyy said.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy said that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has suffered at least five times fewer military losses than the aggressor country. And to start talking about negotiations to end the war, the occupation forces must leave our territory.
