The enemy shelled AFU's positions 2,300 times and is looking for weaknesses in the Pokrovsk direction - General Staff

The eight hundred and twenty-eighth day of the large-scale war that Russia is waging against Ukraine is passing. Since the beginning of the day, 81 combat engagements have taken place, and the enemy has shelled the positions of our troops and populated areas using artillery, mortars, small arms and armored vehicles,  2,300 times.

The hottest spot remains the Pokrovsk sector, where the enemy keeps trying to find weaknesses in our defense. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary on May 31, 2024, as of 22:30.

Situation at the front

In the Kharkiv sector, two unsuccessful enemy attacks took place near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. The defense forces are actively repelling the Russian occupants' units.

The number of combat engagements in the Kupiansk sector increased to 12 since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled five enemy attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, Berestove, Novoiehorivka and Makiivka. Ukrainian defenders continued to repel seven more attacks near Petropavlivka, Berestove and Novoiehorivka. The situation is tense but under control. According to preliminary data, the enemy has lost 64 occupants and one tank in this sector since the beginning of the day. Attempts by Russian occupants to advance in the areas of Terny, Dibrova and Torske were unsuccessful. Ukrainian troops are taking measures to strengthen the front line of defense.

Eight combat engagements took place in the Siversk sector. The enemy was particularly active near Vyimka. Here they tried to interfere with the combat order of Ukrainian units in vain. The situation is tense but under control of the Ukrainian defense forces.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the aggressor tried to attack the Ukrainian defense forces in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Chasovyi Yar six times. All attempts were in vain. No losses of our positions were allowed.

In the Toretsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one attack near Kurdiumivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the largest number of combat engagements took place. The enemy continues to try to find weaknesses in our defense with the support of aviation and artillery, and is trying to break into the combat formations of Ukrainian units with continuous assault operations. Out of 27 combat engagements in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Progres, Sokol, Novoselivka Persha, Umanske, Nevelske and Netailove, 15 were successfully repelled by our defenders. 12 battles are still ongoing. The defense forces are taking measures to stabilize the situation and prevent the enemy from advancing. Preliminary losses of the aggressor in this area amounted to almost 200 occupants killed and wounded. Three tanks, two armored combat vehicles, an artillery system and a mortar were destroyed. At the same time, one tank, two armored combat vehicles, two cars and six artillery systems were damaged.

Five combat engagements took place in the Kurakhove sector as of this time of day. The invaders are trying to advance near Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka and Kostiantynivka. Four enemy attacks were repelled. Fighting continues in the area of Krasnohorivka. No losses of positions or territories were reported.

In the Vremivsk sector, Russian invaders attacked our units near Staromaiorske three times. All assault actions of the Russian occupants failed. The defense forces control the situation. Four combat engagements took place in the Orikhiv sector. The Russian occupants failed to push our units back from Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne and Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovsk sector, the occupants continue to try to drive the Defense Forces from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Four combat engagements in the vicinity of Krynky ended without success for the enemy. The Ukrainian military continues to control the situation, and no losses of our positions have been reported.

Russian attacks

During the day, the Russian invaders launched six missiles, 47 air strikes, and 48 UAVs, including 531 kamikaze drones. The enemy also fired at the positions of our troops and populated areas using artillery, mortars, small arms and armored vehicles, more than 2,300 times.

AFU attacks

During the day, the missile forces and artillery of the defense forces hit two places of concentration of enemy personnel, one area of concentration of military equipment, two artillery systems, four control points and a fuel and lubricant base.
