Senator Graham: Ukraine must show that it will fight regardless of the US actions

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham said that Ukraine must show that it will fight the aggressor country Russia, regardless of the actions of the United States. He called on Ukrainians to demonstrate the level of morale that was at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Graham made the statement at a briefing during a visit to Kyiv on Monday, March 18, as quoted by Ukrinform news agency.

"I want the weapons to come in, but I think you have to show the Russians: 'Whatever America does, we will fight. That's what we did when we started fighting for freedom. That's the spirit I saw when the war started," the Republican added.

Graham noted that the amount of assistance to Ukraine from the European Union has equaled that of the United States, but the 33 billion euros under the EU's Ukraine facility plan are provided on credit, while the United States "has not lent a penny to anyone."

"If you want us to continue to be involved and to be able to help you, then we have to develop policies that are acceptable to the public at home, who feel they are being ignored," the senator explained.

The American expressed hope that in 2024 Ukraine will receive the necessary weapons from the United States and will be able not only to hold the territory, but also to increase pressure on the Russians.

"This is what I hope will happen in 2024. America will give Ukraine the weapons you need so badly, and you will start not only holding the territory, but putting even more pressure on the Russians in 2024. That you will receive ATACAMS so that you can break the damn bridge connecting Crimea to Russia. I want 2024 to be a year of qualitative superiority of the Ukrainian military. You are the most resourceful people I have ever met," said Lindsey Graham.
