A record since the beginning of the year: 645 occupants eliminated in the Tavria sector over the day

The day before, on February 12, the Defense Forces soldiers performing tasks in the operational area of the Tavria Operational and Strategic Group of Forces eliminated a record number of Russian occupants this year. The enemy lost nearly 650 people both killed and wounded.

However, the previous day was also "record-breaking" in terms of the number of enemy shelling and air strikes. Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of the Tavria Operational and Strategic Group of Forces, provided details on the situation in this section of the front.

He emphasized that the intensity of fighting in the operational area of the Tavria sector is increasing. The enemy fired a record number of artillery shells and aerial bombs at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities near the front yesterday. A total of 1,267 artillery attacks and 67 air strikes were recorded.

However, the Ukrainian soldiers did not remain in debt. They inflicted record losses in manpower on the invaders since the beginning of 2024.

"Thanks to the efforts of the brave soldiers in the Tavria direction, the total losses of the Russian occupiers over the past day amounted to 645 people. This is the highest number since the beginning of the year. Our defenders are steadfastly holding the line and conducting active operations in the designated areas," the commander noted.

Tarnavskyi also added that Ukrainian soldiers continue to replenish their exchange fund: the day before, they captured a dozen Russian occupants near Avdiivka.

The invaders also lost equipment and weapons. 41 units were destroyed or damaged, including:

• 5 tanks
• 17 armored combat vehicles
• eight artillery systems
• 10 vehicles
• one unit of special equipment

And this is not including UAVs. On February 12, the defenders neutralized as many as 280 drones of various types. At the same time, Tarnavskyi added, two Russian attack drones, Lancet and ZALA, were shot down by Ukrainian soldiers in  the Donetsk region with small arms.

However, the enemy losses over the past day did not end there: Ukrainian soldiers blew up one Russian ammunition depot and another important enemy facility.

As a reminder, over the course of February 12, the Ukrainian Armed Forces neutralized 19 enemy artillery systems and 1,090 occupants. The total number of enemy weapons and military equipment destroyed the day before exceeded 100 units. As of the morning of February 13, the invaders' irrecoverable losses in manpower reached 397,080 people.

On February 12, it also became known that Ukrainian soldiers captured almost 25 more occupants in the Tavria direction.
