Ukraine's success in the Battle of the Black Sea will go down in history books. Thanks to the courage of Ukrainian soldiers, the Russian fleet has been driven out of the eastern part of the Black Sea and the Kremlin cannot use it to spread its aggression to other parts of the world.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his traditional video address on the evening of October 31. The Ukrainian leader noted that the world gets used to success too quickly.

"When the full-scale aggression began, many in the world expected that Ukraine would not survive. Now, the tremendous things that our people, all our soldiers, are doing are simply taken for granted. Ukraine's success in the Battle of the Black Sea is something that will be in the history books, although it is not often discussed now. Glory to everyone who does not retreat, who does not burn out, who believes in Ukraine as much as on February 24, and who fights for Ukraine, who cares about Ukraine," Zelensky said.

President held a meeting on the International Day of the Black Sea

Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had held a Headquarters meeting on the International Day of the Black Sea, where the issue of the south was a priority. In particular, it was about grain corridors and the protection of our cities.

"All this is important not only for our country and not only for the security of Ukraine but much more broadly. We proved it during the war. We proved that when Ukraine, together with its partners, returns security to the Black Sea, the world receives more security for other regions as dividends," the President said.

Thanks to Ukraine's courage, Russia cannot use the Black Sea to terrorize other countries, Zelenskyy emphasized.

"Russia invested in a humanitarian catastrophe in Syria, using the Black Sea as its base, and later our Crimea, as a springboard for the Russian military. Now the situation has changed. It has changed fundamentally. And when we add even more security to the Black Sea, Russia will lose any opportunity to dominate this area and spread its influence and destructiveness to other countries," the President emphasized.

In addition, the situation at the frontline was also discussed. In particular, Avdiivka, Marinka, Kupiansk, and Lyman directions.

The Head of State also held a special ceremony of presenting state awards to the military who distinguished themselves in the battles for the Black Sea.

"Today, I held a special ceremony of presenting state awards to our soldiers who are increasing Ukrainian strength in the battle for the sea. The Navy and border guards who protect our waters. Soldiers of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine. Engineers who make our new weapons - our maritime drones - and ensure their functioning. These are the guys who cannot be shown openly, whose names cannot be tied to specific events. For now, while the war is still ongoing. But they really deserve the gratitude of the state and people. I thanked them on behalf of all Ukrainians," Zelensky emphasized.

President holds a preparatory meeting on Ukraine's membership in the EU

Ukraine's readiness to open negotiations on membership in the European Union is one of the key political goals of this year, Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.

"I held a preparatory meeting on our work with the European Union. One of the key political goals of Ukraine at the end of this year is our readiness to open negotiations on EU membership," the President said.

"We expect a similar readiness from European institutions as we clearly understand the priorities and we are preparing our steps," Zelenskyy said.

The President also said that he had spoken with Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolaj Denkov.

"I am grateful to Bulgaria for supporting our movement to the European Union, for our very fruitful partnership cooperation in the Black Sea in trade and security," the head of state said.
